Biblical counseling is the personal ministry of God’s Word to people facing the struggles, suffering, relationships, decisions, and questions of everyday life. It begins with the conviction that Scripture is God’s authoritative and sufficient Word and that it speaks meaningfully to who we are, why we struggle, where true hope is found, and how lasting change takes place.

At Ancient Words Biblical Counseling, counseling is not psychotherapy with Bible verses added to it. We seek to understand a person’s life through the truth of Scripture, with Jesus Christ at the center and in dependence upon the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.
What Can We Talk About?
People do not have to arrive knowing exactly what is wrong or how to explain it. We begin by listening.
Counseling may address grief and loss, fear and anxiety, anger, guilt and shame, marriage and family difficulties, broken relationships, forgiveness, loneliness, suffering, difficult decisions, life transitions, patterns of sin, spiritual struggles, questions of identity and purpose, or circumstances that simply feel overwhelming.
The goal is not to force every struggle into a simple formula. We seek to understand your circumstances carefully and then consider together what God’s Word says about your suffering, your responses, your relationships, your heart, your hope, and your walk with Christ.
What Happens in Biblical Counseling?
Counseling is a conversation with purpose. Sonda will listen to your story, ask questions, help you examine your circumstances and responses through Scripture, and work with you to identify biblical truths that apply to what you are facing.
Sessions may include reading and discussing Scripture, prayer, reflection, and practical work between sessions designed to help you put biblical truth into practice in everyday life.
What Is the Goal?
The ultimate goal of biblical counseling is not merely relief from difficult circumstances. We certainly pray for relief and rejoice when circumstances change, but our deeper hope is that counselees increasingly know, trust, love, and follow Jesus Christ in the midst of real life.
Biblical counseling seeks growth in wisdom, faith, repentance, endurance, reconciliation, love, obedience, and hope as the Holy Spirit uses God’s Word to transform His people.
Who Is Biblical Counseling For?
Ancient Words Biblical Counseling serves adults, couples, and families. You do not need to have everything figured out before asking for help, and you do not need to know which Bible passage applies to your situation.
You can simply come and tell your story. We will begin there.
